Class Information & Policies

Secular, inclusive online classes with room for curiosity, and room to be yourself.

Here’s how Rabbit Hole Learning classes work, what your family can expect, and what to know before enrolling.

What You Can Expect Here

  • Secular: lessons use secular materials and framing. When religion comes up in history or culture, we discuss it from an educational perspective.
  • Anti-racist: curriculum intentionally includes diverse voices, histories, and perspectives, with a commitment to challenging racism.
  • LGBTQ+ affirming: LGBTQ+ learners, caregivers, and families are welcomed and respected.
  • Neurodivergent friendly: classes make room for different ways of communicating, processing, moving, and participating.
I believe learning happens best when kids feel safe, seen, and curious. We make room for unexpected questions, interesting tangents, and the moments when something finally clicks.

I plan lessons with clear goals and adapt to the learners in the room. Some kids love to talk. Some need time to listen and process. Both belong here.

Your Teacher Is Neurodivergent, Too

I’m Selene, and I’m neurodivergent. Your kids will see that in class. I might make sounds or movements to regulate myself (stim), lose my train of thought, get distracted, or stumble over a word. Sometimes I’ll pause, regroup, and try again.

I think there’s value in kids seeing that. Being an adult (or a teacher) doesn’t mean having a brain that works the same way as everyone else’s. I want learners to see someone using the tools they need, making mistakes, and continuing without shame.

That same room to be human extends to your kids. They don’t need to hide harmless stims, sit perfectly still, or get every word right to belong here. We’ll make space for our different needs while being considerate of everyone sharing the class.

How Classes Work

Course materials are hosted on Teachery, and live classes meet on Zoom. About a week before classes begin, you’ll receive access to your course materials and information about joining live sessions. You do not need a paid Zoom account.

Enrollment-based classes meet for a set number of weeks with the same group of learners. Drop-in classes, when offered, allow families to participate without a weekly commitment. Class sizes are intentionally small to support discussion and interaction.

Check each course listing for dates, meeting times, recommended ages, supplies, and class-specific details. Age ranges are a guide; contact me if you’re unsure about the fit.

Most classes require little or no advance preparation. I’ll share any needed supplies or printables ahead of time. If you can’t print a handout or obtain a supply, reach out so we can explore alternatives.

Pricing & Family Enrollment

  • Classes meeting twice a week: $250 per course
  • Classes meeting once a week: $150 per course
Prices cover the full course. One enrollment covers learners in the same family participating together using one screen, unless the course listing says otherwise. Please include participating learners’ names when enrolling.

Multiple-Class Discounts

The highest-priced course is full price, the second-highest-priced course is 50% off, and each additional course is 25% off. Discounts apply to the lower-priced courses, unless otherwise stated in the course listing.

For example, one $250 course plus one $150 course costs $325 total: $250 plus $75.

Joining Zoom & Camera Use

Join using a learner or caregiver name that matches your enrollment information so I can identify your family.

I do a brief camera check at the beginning of each class for safety and security. After that check, keeping the camera on is optional. If the check presents an accessibility or privacy concern, contact me in advance so we can discuss an arrangement.

Learners may speak, use chat when available, listen, or take time to process. Movement, fidgets, and breaks are welcome while allowing others to participate too.

For your first session, join a few minutes early to check your connection, sound, and camera. Caregivers should be available to help younger learners with technical needs.

Missed Classes & Free Lesson Videos

Life happens, and sometimes you’ll miss a session. I do not share recordings of live classes. This helps protect learners’ privacy and gives students room to participate without their contributions being distributed afterward.

Self-paced lesson videos are free on the Rabbit Hole Learning website.
These are separate from live class recordings and offer another way to explore or revisit the material.

If you can’t find a video for the lesson you missed, please let me know at [email protected]. I’ll check and update the website as soon as I can.

Refunds & Withdrawals

Please Review the Materials Before Enrolling

Slides and lesson content are available for free on the Rabbit Hole Learning website. Parents and caregivers are responsible for reviewing these materials and the course description before enrolling to decide whether the content, approach, and expectations fit their learner and family. If you’re unsure, please contact me before signing up.

Refund Window

You may request a full refund at least seven calendar days before the first scheduled class.

Refunds are generally not available fewer than seven calendar days before the first class or after the course begins, including for withdrawals, missed sessions, scheduling conflicts, or concerns about content that was available to review before enrollment.

For drop-in classes, the same seven-day cutoff applies to the session you booked.

When Circumstances Change

I know unexpected situations happen. If you need to withdraw outside the refund window, please contact me at [email protected]. I may make exceptions on a case-by-case basis, at my discretion. An exception is not guaranteed, but you’re welcome to ask. You don’t need to share sensitive personal details to start the conversation.

For refund requests, include your name and the class you enrolled in.

When I Need to Cancel a Class

Sometimes illness, a family emergency, a power or internet outage, or another unexpected situation means I need to cancel a live session. I’ll email enrolled families as soon as I know. Emergencies can happen close to class time, so please check your email before joining.

For courses that run over multiple weeks, I may cancel up to two scheduled live meetings per course without issuing a refund.
This allowance is for the entire course, not two meetings per month or per learner. Free self-paced lesson videos remain available on the website.

I’ll try to offer makeup sessions when possible, but makeups for these first two canceled meetings are not guaranteed.

If I cancel more than two meetings, I’ll offer a makeup session or a proportional refund for each additional canceled meeting. If your family cannot attend the offered makeup, you may request the proportional refund instead. Refunds are calculated using the amount your family actually paid for the course, divided by the number of originally scheduled live meetings.

For example, if I cancel three meetings and none are made up, the first two are covered by this allowance and the third is eligible for a proportional refund.

This two-meeting allowance does not apply to a separately purchased drop-in session. If I cancel a drop-in session, I’ll offer a replacement or a full refund for that session.

If I cancel an entire course before it begins, you’ll receive a full refund. If I permanently end a course early, you’ll receive a proportional refund for all remaining meetings that won’t be taught; the two-meeting allowance does not reduce that refund.

To request an eligible refund, email [email protected]. The seven-day withdrawal cutoff does not apply to these teacher-cancellation refunds.

Thank you for understanding that teachers and their families sometimes need time to rest and recover, too.

A Respectful, Private Learning Space

Questions, mistakes, and respectful disagreement are part of learning. Everyone is expected to treat other learners and their families with care. Racism, harassment, bullying, and comments targeting someone’s identity are not welcome. Please use the names and pronouns people share.

If a problem comes up, I’ll respond with the learners’ ages, needs, and the situation in mind. This may include a reminder, a break, or a conversation with a caregiver. If behavior continues to affect others’ safety or participation, a learner may be removed from a session or course.

Do not record, photograph, or take screenshots of live classes.

Do not share other learners’ names, images, personal information, or class contributions outside the group.

Keep Zoom links and enrolled-course access details within your family.
You’re welcome to share links to free resources published on the Rabbit Hole Learning website.

Accessibility & Finding the Right Fit

Accessibility is part of how I plan and teach. Every learner is different, so please contact me before enrolling if your child has specific access needs, communication preferences, or concerns about participating.

You don’t need to share a diagnosis or your child’s full history to start that conversation. We can talk through what helps and whether the class will be a good fit.

Financial Support

If a class fee is a barrier, please contact me before enrolling. Financial support is handled case by case, depending on what’s available. You won’t need to explain your circumstances in detail; we’ll have a low-pressure conversation about possible options.

Supporting Other Families

To sponsor a seat, email [email protected]. You can also contribute through my "buy me a book" with a note that the funds are for student sponsorship. Contributions designated for sponsorship go toward class access for learners who need financial support.

Still Have Questions?

You don’t have to be a homeschooler to join. Any family is welcome if the class schedule and format work for them.

For questions about enrollment, accessibility, materials, or these policies, email [email protected].

I’m a real person, and I’m happy to help!
