Getting Ready C

This video is made for kids, so your child can watch it with you. It's also a good model for how to teach these skills.

Getting Ready C

What this lesson is about

Two groups of sounds. Stop sounds are the quick pops (/p/, /b/, /t/, /d/, /k/, /g/), and nose sounds are /m/, /n/ and the "ng" in "ring." Your child feels the air being blocked or sent through the nose.

Try it

  • Hold a hand in front of your mouth and feel the puff on /p/ and /t/.
  • Hold your nose and say /m/, then /b/. Which one stays quiet?
  • Pairs game: say /p/ then /b/ and check for the buzz.
