Getting Ready F

This video is made for kids, so your child can watch it with you. It's also a good model for how to teach these skills.

Getting Ready F

What this lesson is about

A review of the consonant sounds from A through E. Nothing new is taught. This is a chance to see which sounds your child finds tricky.

Try it

  • Pick any sound and have your child copy it or listen while you notice together what your mouth does and whether your voice buzzes.
  • Take turns making familiar sounds slowly and playfully. Your child can copy you, watch, or choose a sound for you to model.
  • Make a mouth-sounds scavenger hunt: model a stop sound such as /p/, then look together for objects whose names begin with it.

Letters this lesson

  • U: Down, curve up at the bottom, then up to the top.
  • J: Down, curve to the left at the bottom, then go to the top and add a line across.
  • S: Start at the top, make a little curve to the left, then turn and curve the other way.
